Blues Party by Jeffrey T. Parthun |
The adjectives catchy, fun and educational refer to Blues Party. Originally written to help drill the 8th and 9th scale degrees in the Bb concert scale, this catchy melody is set to basic blues changes in a rock and roll style. Alternate low brass and trumpet parts are available for students with range difficulties but these players are still pushed to reach an octave. Percussion parts are playable by students of all ability levels. The piece will work without the tambourine/cowbell parts but these colors really add to the fun. | Jefferson High School Symphonic Band |

Peabody Street by Jeffrey T. Parthun |

The Old Schenectady by arr. Jeffrey T. Parthun |
"The Old Schenectady" by Howard Ackers was written in 1955. This treatment of the march by Mr. Parthun uses the same primary melodies that Mr. Akers wrote for each strain and the original bass line. The woodwind harmony lines in the first strain and the quotes from "Hail Purdue" in the trio are new additions to the piece. The orchestration reflects the instrumentation used in contemporary junior high and high school bands. The trio has been completely re-voiced to display some interesting woodwind colors and has enough doubling of sax and double reed parts that most bands will be able to perform it. | Purdue Summer Band |
